Drivers bought exactly the same amount of fuel in February 2017 as they did a year earlier, but the amount they spent rose by 1.7 per cent as the higher price of crude oil pushed up the cost of a tank of petrol. Monthly growth was seen across all store types, ONS said. The total volume of furniture and lighting retail sales for February also improved up from -8% to -4.4%, but remained behind last year's figure of a positive 11.8%. (more...)
