CIA Director Mike Pompeo says Venezuela's Situation Continues to Deteriorate

The North has threatened to fire ballistic missiles over Japan towards the tourism-dependent island as Pyongyang and Washington ratchet up their war of words

CIA Director Mike Pompeo said on Sunday he would not be surprised if North Korea tested another missile, given that it had two tests in July.

In a separate interview on "Fox News Sunday", Pompeo was asked about the nature and degree of threat to the USA mainland in light of Kim's continuing drive to develop North Korea's missile and nuclear capacities.

"The reaction in North Korea that we are intending to get is an is an understanding that America is no longer going to have the strategic patience that it's had that has permitted him to continue to develop his weapons program", Pompeo said.

"Each time they test another missile, or if they should conduct a nuclear weapons test, they develop expertise".

Now it was on countries like China and Russian Federation along with US allies like South Korea and Japan to work in tandem to get nuclear weapons out of the region.

Donald Trump in particular has promised "fire and anger" at North Korea.

"If North Korea does anything in terms of even thinking about attack of anybody that we love or we represent or our allies or us, they can be very, very nervous", he explained.

There is no imminent threat of a nuclear war with North Korea, the top USA intelligence official says, amid growing tensions between the countries.

"Our response is we're prepared militarily to deal with this if necessary".

"There's nothing imminent today", Mr. Pompeo said. He also will discuss military options in the event the "diplomatic and economic pressurization campaign" fails.

China's president, Xi Jinping, made a plea for cool-headedness in a phone conversation with Trump on Saturday, urging both sides to avoid words or actions that could worsen the situation.

Tuesday: "North Korea, best not make any more threats to the United States", Mr Trump tells reporters. In response, North Korea announced a detailed plan to fire ballistic missiles towards Guam, a US territory in the Pacific.

Tensions between North Korea and the United States have racheted up in recent weeks.

Referring to Kim, President Trump added: "If he utters one threat ... or if he does anything with respect to Guam or any place else that's an American territory or an American ally, he will truly regret it, and he will regret it fast".

President Trump wrote on Twitter on Friday that U.S.
