SC police officer Quincy Smith was shot multiple times by a suspect he was attempting to question, and the entire dramatic, shocking encounter was captured on a tiny camera in the officer's glasses.

"Dispatch, please tell my family I love them", Smith said, while on the ground outside of his cruiser.

The officer of Estill Police Department, Quincy Smith, was lucky to survive the attack, the New York Post reported. He had previously purchased the glasses with his own money.

The disturbing footage shows Smith telling Orr to stop walking to and to remove his hand from his pocket several times before threatening him with a taser.

The officer gave Orr one more final warning that he would be forced to use a Taser if he didn't comply with his demands.

On the day in question, Smith responded to call about someone harassing customers at a convenience store.

However, Orr took out the weapon, a 9mm handgun, and fired at Smith.

The solicitor's office says at least two of the eight rounds were fired while Smith was lying on the ground and another two were fired as Smith ran for cover, back to his parked patrol vehicle. "Violence and guns aren't the answer, that's why I became a police officer", Smith said.

Once back inside his patrol vehicle Smith begged for backup, blood-covered hands fumbling with the radio controls as he tried to alert his dispatcher.

The man looks over at Smith a second time but continues to walk down the road. He also suffered two broken arms. "I've been shot in the neck".

Smith moves away from the auto and quietly tells the emergency team: 'Tell my family that I love them'. Its first chorus ends on prophetic line: "I won't leave without you, I won't leave without you".

14th Circuit Solicitor Duffie Stone, who prosecuted the case, said: "If but not for the grace of God and some very good doctors, this would not only have been a murder case, but a death penalty case".

The alleged shooter, Malcolm Antwan Orr, 29, was sentenced on attempted murder charges on Wednesday.
