Steve Martin's 'Meteor Shower' Will Bring Amy Schumer to Broadway

Amy Schumer at the premiere of'Snatched

For Amy, the casting announcement comes after she dropped out of starring in the live-action "Barbie" movie earlier this year due to "scheduling conflicts".

Schumer will be joined by Keegan-Michael Key, Laura Benanti and Alan Tudyk (Too-diek).

Meteor Shower will mark both Schumer and Key's Broadway debut; Key has also been performing off-Broadway this summer in the Public Theater's production of Hamlet.

The play, billed as "a marital comedy about two couples who get together for an evening of stargazing and sparring in an Ojai, California backyard in 1993", will also star two-time Tony victor Laura Benanti, Keegan-Michael Key (currently performing in the Public Theater's "Hamlet"), and Alan Tudyk ("Firefly").

The play's director will be Jerry Zaks, whose glitzy revival of Hello, Dolly! won four Tony awards, including best actress in a musical for legendary star Bette Midler.

'As the stars come out and the conversation gets rolling, cocktails flow, tempers flare, and sparks fly - literally'.

Steve Martin's new play, "Meteor Shower", is getting an all star cast.

'And then the next thing is, well, who is everybody? And when I started to think about who everybody is (in the play), that's when it got worthy.

'Because I had a psychological interpretation of who everybody was, and that gave me something to write from'.

The play had productions a year ago at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego and at Long Wharf Theater in New Haven.

Previews begin November 1st with an opening night of November 29th. She also will star in and produce the comedy feature "I Feel Pretty", and plays a supporting role in DreamWorks' upcoming PTSD drama "Thank You for Your Service", the directorial debut of "American Sniper" screenwriter Jason Hall.
