Passengers say teen who jumped from plane at SFO was 'anxious, fidgety'

Departing and parked aircraft intersect at San Francisco International Airport

Witnesses said the teen seemed fidgety and anxious throughout the seven-hour flight.

CBS 5 reports that the boy was 17 and Customs and Border Control is investigating the incident. The penalties faced by such a minor too much in a hurry were not yet known. He was also reportedly taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. Police are questioning passengers who were onboard the flight. And then he just starts running the other way. Though, a passenger named Isaac Rodrigues said that since there was no door to close, the flight attendant used her body to block the gap so that the plane could continue to the gate, reported AP. Law enforcement took the teen into custody, according to the airline.

There have been other similar incidents before where passengers have tried to jump off planes.

"We are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities to support the ongoing investigation", the airline said.

"Just a standard landing and then everyone started noticing that I was sitting behind the mid emergency exit door and everyone noticed that the door had come off", passenger Sebastian Tamarelle said. The American Airlines flight 5242 was preparing for takeoff from the terminal at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

The 17-year-old boy opened the door as soon as the flight from Panama City had landed at San Francisco airport.

Airport officials say no runways were affected and there was no operational impact at the airport.

"People were yelling, 'Tell the flight attendants".
