No one can challenge Modi in 2019, says Nitish Kumar

Yadav's assertion came a day after RJD chief Lalu Prasad welcomed him to take the lead in fighting BJP and the Nitish-BJP alliance.

Sharad Yadav told reporters outside Parliament, "I don't agree with the decision in Bihar". "It is wrong to break the pact we made with the people, who had voted for the grand alliance (mahagatbandhan)", he said. Referring to his future role in national politics, he said: "Serving Bihar is also national service".

"Nitish Kumar only loves power and the chief minister's chair - he has betrayed it time and again", the former deputy chief minister said.

Responding to the charges of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Rashtriya Janta Dal Chief Lalu Yadav on Tuesday said Kumar never enjoyed mass support in Bihar.

Tejashwi has been continuously attacking the JD (U) leader ever since his alliance with the BJP.

RJD chief Lalu Yadav had earlier indicated that Sharad was sulking over Kumar's decision.

Kumar's praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi "shows he was with the BJP from the beginning of "mahagathbandhan", Yadav said".

When asked about the possibility of the JD (U) joining the National Democratic Alliance at the national level, including ministers in the Modi government, Kumar said the JD (U) national executive will meet in Patna Aug. 19 and such issues will be decided there.

On Monday a plea was filed by advocate ML Sharma against Nitish Kumar seeking cancellation his membership of the state Legislative Council for allegedly concealing a pending criminal case against him. "Even Sharad Yadav is anxious about this", JD (U) leader Arun Kumar told ANI.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the Centre was committed to the development of eastern states and bring them at par with western region of the country. He is reportedly also eyeing Bihar's Madhepura constituency - where he has won many times in the past - for his son-in-law. "But I was wrong to trust him", the RJD leader said.

In the last four years, Nitish had been a scathing critic of the Modi government, the RSS and the Sangh parivar, speaking out against their policies and ideology on several occasions. "I will not take any specific name, but some other leaders have been making up their mind to walk out of the NDA", Anwar said.

"We met Sharad Yadav today who is the founder member of the JD (U) and raised concern over the decision of Nitish Kumar".
