She and the "Come Fly With Me" singer remained married until Frank Sinatra's death in 1998.

A representative for her Barbara Sinatra Children's Center Foundation charity tells the Desert Sun newspaper, "She died comfortably surrounded by family and friends at her home".

Born Barbara Blakeley, the Bosworth, Missouri, native began her modeling career at 18 after her family moved to Long Beach, California.

Barbara met Frank when he was living next door to the married couple, and they became friends during the tail end of his tempestuous relationship with Ava Gardner, even playing couple's tennis together.

A former model and Las Vegas showgirl, Barbara Sinatra was a prominent Palm Springs socialite in her own right before she married Sinatra in 1976.

She Wednesday the singing legend back in 1976, following her split from American actor Zeppo Marx.

"Barbara started raising funds for [the center] in 1985 with Frank's support", Thoresen told The Desert Sun. "There are several child advocacy centers like it around the country, (but) this one is probably most recognized".

She made a name for herself as an advocate for victims of child abuse, building up her foundation with Frank's help. "It's something you can't explain why or how it happened".

She is survived by her son Robert Oliver Marx, daughter-in-law Hillary Roberts, and granddaughter Carina Blakeley Marx.
