Jason Garrett, Cowboys were unaware Lucky Whitehead was arrested

Warrant Issued For Dallas Cowboys Receiver Lucky Whitehead in Virginia

But making matters worse, Whitehead was ordered to appear in court on July 6 and according to court records, he didn't show. Whitehead is accused of stealing less than $200 worth of goods from a convenience store.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Lucky Whitehead, a 2011 graduate of Osbourn High School, is wanted by Prince William County police for failure to appear in court on a shoplifting charge.

"First time I heard it was coming off the practice field", Garrett said Monday.

The Cowboys opened their training camp in Oxnard, California, on Monday.

The Cowboys' selection of Ryan Switzer in the fourth round made Whitehead a long shot to return to the Cowboys for a third season.

The court date has been reset to August 10, per court records.

Running back Ezekiel Elliott was involved in an altercation on July 16 at a club in Dallas where a man was punched.

Whitehead, 25, was in the news just last week after he returned to his Dallas home to find out his dog was being held for ransom, according to him. The team is also still awaiting word on the outcome of the NFL's investigation into domestic violence allegations against Ezekiel Elliott previous year.

Cowboys WR Lucky Whitehead added his name to the list of Dallas players who got in trouble this offseason.

Multiple sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter last week that Elliott could face a one- or two-game suspension, but the National Football League denied it made a decision on a course of disciplinary action.

Linebacker Damien Wilson was arrested on July 4 in Texas on charges of assault with a deadly weapon in what he said was a road-rage incident; defensive end David Irving has been suspended for four games for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy; and rookie cornerback Jourdan Lewis is facing trial this week in Ann Arbor, Mich., for a misdemeanor domestic-violence charge.
