New Trump communications chief vows to 'stop those leaks'

Anthony Scaramucci's Twitter Shows a Softer Attitude on Putin, Russia

This came the same day Scaramucci vowed to take "dramatic action" to stop press leaks from anonymous White House sources. "What are you guys suggesting?" he asked.

During an interview on CNN's State of the Union on Sunday, Scaramucci first told host Jake Tapper that he'd recently spoken to someone who assured him that if Russia had been behind the hacks of the Democratic National Committee and John Podesta last year―as multiple USA intelligence agencies have concluded―then nobody would have ever known about it, because the Russians are so good at it.

Host Jake Tapper began to ask a question about what "this anonymous person" had claimed.

He also said on CNN's "State of the Union" that "we're going to defend him very, very aggressively when there's nonsensical stuff being said about him".

"Anthony, you're making a lot of assertions here".

Politico reported that Spicer was stunned by his sudden ouster, after he loyally served Trump for months and was preparing to take a larger role behind the scenes.

Scaramucci went on to criticize the media for continuing to pursue the story.

And while Huckabee Sanders delivered that message, Scaramucci offered a variation on the president's current position.

Leakers, told Dickerson, were going to get fired.

Scaramucci said he was going to usher in "an era of new good feeling" in the White House press corps. Despite introducing new measures to curtail illegal immigration, there are few other obvious successes for the new communications team to trumpet.

On another Sunday talk show though, it sounded like Trump had already made a decision to sign the bill.

In October 2015, Scaramucci threw his support behind Republican presidential contender Jeb Bush, whom Trump often slammed as "low energy".

On CNN, he described the Russian Federation probe as a "nonsensical thing".

On Friday, President Trump upended his communications staff Friday, naming Scaramucci communications director, a move that prompted the resignation of his embattled press secretary, Sean Spicer.

In general, Scaramucci downplayed Russia's interference in the 2016 election as well as the investigations into whether Trump's team actively colluded with Russian officials on those efforts.

"The President is thinking about pardoning nobody", Scaramucci said.

'I'm going to make it very, very clear, OK?' Scaramucci said.

He declined to say whether the president will sign the bill Congress is considering that would place new sanctions on Russian Federation. He also apologized for calling Trump a hack and said the president still reminds him of his previous comments. "The administration is supportive of being tough on Russian Federation, particularly in putting these sanctions in place", Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who was promoted to press secretary on Friday, said on ABC's This Week.
