On Twitter, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Gopal Baglay hit back at Pakistan army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa for glorifying Burhan Wani, who was killed by Indian security forces on July 8 a year ago in an encounter Kashmir's Anantnag district. More than 70,000 people have reportedly been killed in the conflict since 1989.

According to local villagers, at least half a dozen boys from the villages of Radwani, Khudwani and Quimoh villages have gone missing over the last few days and are suspected of having already joined the militant group.

Sharif in a message on the first death anniversary of Wani's killing said that India can not suppress the voice of the people of Kashmir through use of brute force.

"We will make decisions as per daily security assessment", Inspector General Muneer Khan said, adding that all social networking sites had been blocked in the state from Thursday.

The mobile internet and broadband services remained suspended in the Valley for the second consecutive day today. "However, if the situation aggravates, we may be forces to take harsh measures", a senior police officer said, wishing anonymity.
