Women in WH Earn 80 Cents on the Dollar Compared to Men

President Donald Trump

More than 40 percent of White House staffers earn in excess of $100,000 a year, according to new salary details released Friday.

The average salary for male workers was around $104,000, according to the White House's annual report to Congress, whereas for women it was $83,000.

This salary survey comes at a time when nations like Iceland have already initiated the process of ensuring equal pay for men and women.

CNN reported on the White House pay gap as though men and women working the same jobs are paid differently, but the fourth paragraph of their report tells a different story. To calculate average salary, three employees reporting no earnings, including Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, and one employee whose gender CNN was unable to confirm, were excluded. Twenty-two employees are paid that much, including nearly all of the most well-known members of the administration. Press Secretary Sean Spicer, White House Counsel Donald McGahn and chief strategist Stephen Bannon are among the men in that list. They include well-known aides such as special counselor Kellyanne Conway, director of strategic communications Hope Hicks and reality television star turned presidential staffer Omarosa Manigault.

The highest-paid staffer appears to be senior policy adviser Mark House, who is making $187,100 a year, according to the 16-page document.

Omarosa Manigault, the former "Apprentice" contestant who serves as director of communications for White House office of public liaison; and social media director Dan Scavino.
