Cowboys linebacker Damien Wilson arrested

Damien Wilson is arrested during a Fourth of July celebration called Freedom Fest in Texas

Frisco police said Wilson was arrested Tuesday outside of Toyota Stadium during the city's Fourth of July celebration.

Former Gophers linebacker Damien Wilson was arrested Tuesday in Frisco, Texas with two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a Frisco City Jail spokesperson said Wednesday.

The Cowboys declined to comment. "The case is still under investigation and no further information will be released at this time". The mug shot of Wilson is below. The Cowboys also have two suspended starters in defensive ends David Irving and Randy Gregory.

Wilson has played in all 16 regular season games in each of his first two seasons with the Cowboys, making five starts for the team in 2016.

With Sean Lee and Jaylon Smith being held out of most team drills during organized team activities and minicamp, Wilson often worked with the first-team defense.

Wilson's arrest comes a little more than a month after cornerback Nolan Carroll was arrested for DWI.

The league has handed out eight separate suspensions to members of the Cowboys front seven since 2015, and Wilson's arrest could lead to a ninth.
