Why did Apple, Amazon, Google stocks crash to the same price today?

Apple's shares were incorrectly displayed as down 14% yesterday

Share prices for Apple, Google parent company Alphabet, Amazon, and Microsoft all appeared at $123.47, which would've marked a whopping crash if it were true.

It should also be noted that the Nasdaq's own website didn't reflect the $123.47 share prices, which confirms that this was simply a case of third-parties reacting to test data, which is often disseminated on a daily basis.

Yahoo Finance and Bloomberg appeared to be showing correct ticker data as of 11 p.m. ET, but Google Finance was still showing the test data.

"Any data messages received post 5:16 PM should be deemed as test data and purged from direct data recipient's databases", the second-biggest USA exchange said in a statement. This meant Alphabet and Amazon, both now valued at almost $1,000 per share, suffered a ~90% loss before the issue could be corrected.

Similarly, Apple shares fell 14% to US$123.47 on both Google Finance and Yahoo Finance.

Reports said that the error occurred due to a computer glitch, however, the glitch did not affect any market trading.

Nasdaq is investigating the improper use of test data distributed by the UTP [unlisted trading privileges] and consumed by third parties. The biggest consequences appear to be a bit of confusion among traders and a fun day for companies like Sears and Zynga, who saw their stock prices suddenly jump by a few thousand percent. "Nasdaq is working with third-party vendors to resolve the matter", a Nasdaq spokesman said late yesterday.

A spokesman for Nasdaq put the blame on third-party data providers.

However, the Nasdaq website itself was not impacted by the "bad data".
