Horn stuns Pacquiao to win WBO welterweight

Icelandair Stopover Pass

The 11-time world champion started as strong favourite in the Battle of Brisbane but got more than he bargained for against the Australian, who won after a unanimous points decision. The Filipino boxer lost 117-111, 115-113 and 115-113 to Horn before 51,000 fans at Suncorp Stadium.

Afterwards Smith said Pacquiao had been "robbed by some dude from Australia called Jeff Horn who has a corny nickname in The Hornet".

I'm no expert on how fights are scored and judged but, for now, I'm just happy to see that the victor was the one who has (to our knowledge) never said that gay people are worse than animals.

Trainer Glenn Rushton says Pacquiao was tiring towards the end of the fight, and a rematch would produce the same victor. "Feeling ko tuloy na-set up ako", said Pacquiao as other passengers gathered him to show that their support remains the same.

Speaking to Manila-based reporters, Pacquiao admits to being hurt by the stunning defeat to Jeff Horn but he simply could not help but wonder why he seemed destined to fail in his bid to retain the World Boxing Organization welterweight crown.

And by then the world of boxing will know Jeff Horn.

"Manny Pacquiao is an absolute warrior, he's a legend of the sport, " he said.

Pacquiao had been hoping to set up a second big-money showdown with Floyd Mayweather, but it was Horn who called for a fight with the unbeaten American immediately after his win. With Horn charging forward all day, he ducked down and it was nearly inevitable one of them would be opened.

"In that ninth round, I was like "I don't know if I can handle any more of these rounds" but then he came back and he was just like a different person, it was just wonderful", she said.

"Very tough. That's the decision of the judges", Pacquiao said. "I can remember some days that I felt that because of the bullying".

"I'd prefer to come back here and fight in Queensland or Australia, but there's always the chance of the fight could possibly be made in America".

"That was hard, sometimes I think people need to be investigated".

"But he just couldn't do it and we lost the decision".

He was close to finishing it in the 9th when he relentlessly pounded Horn and had him wobbling - to the point where referee Mark Nelson asked the 29-year-old former schoolteacher if he could continue - and could also have come out with the win.
