Victor Oladipo traded to the Indiana Pacers

NBA trade rumors: Paul George to the Cavs, Rockets or Celtics? Stay tuned

The Celtics were offering as many as three first-round picks and two starting players for George, according to the Boston Globe.

Just hours before the start of National Basketball Association free agency on Friday night, the Oklahoma City traded Oladipo and forward Damontas Sabonis to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for All-Star forward Paul George.

Heading into the summer, the Thunder were never mentioned as a possible landing spot for Paul George, especially given his reported desires to play for the Lakers and his reported willingness to play long-term in Cleveland if LeBron James stayed put.

Last season he averaged a career-high 23.7 points per game with the Pacers, but they ended up getting swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Now, George will get to pair his skills with those of reigning NBA MVP Russell Westbrook as the Thunder look to return to the Western Conference's elite.

The Thunder have taken that gamble with this trade for George, but it certainly was one worth making. Considering that the Thunder were at the bottom of the league in three-point shooting last season, Paul's contribution should be big for the team.

IN acquired Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis for a year of George's services.

Oladipo was acquired by the Thunder from Orlando last summer in an National Basketball Association draft night deal for Serge Ibaka. Oladipo still has lots of room for improvement, and has great potential especially on the defensive end. Sabonis averaged 5.9 points and 3.6 rebounds in his rookie season with the Oklahoma City previous year. Many were surprised the Pacers didn't get back any draft picks.

The Wolves had been looking to move away from Rubio for some time, and they've been rumored for just as long to have interest in Teague, who spent last season with the Indiana Pacers after being acquired from the Atlanta Hawks in a trade last summer.

George's future at IN has been uncertain for some time.
