Jordan Spieth birdies 18th to keep Travelers lead

Rory McIlroy's putter switch gets Irishman on track

Notes and observations from Sunday's electrifying final round of the Travelers Championship, where Jordan Spieth holed out from the bunker to dispatch Daniel Berger in a sudden-death playoff.

Spieth's star power drew massive crowds all weekend to the TPC River Highlands, where he led wire-to-wire until leaving the door open with a couple of late bogeys. Spieth and Tiger Woods are the only two players in the modern era to reach 10 wins before turning 24-years-old.

Ryu has five LPGA Tour victories, also winning the major ANA Inspiration in April in a playoff with Lexi Thompson. After opening in 69-67-68, the 40-year-old began T10 on 6-under, six back of 54-hole leader Jordan Spieth.

It was Romero's second European Tour title, ten years after he won the Players Championship of Europe. But then he blasted out and the ball bounced twice on the green and rolled three feet into the cup. "I didn't think it was breaking back at the end".

Harrington suffered two bogeys in his opening four holes but recorded back-to-back birdies on the seventh and eighth to turn in level par and then had three birdies and just one bogey on his homeward run.

"I'm hesitant and will speak out adamantly about not comparing myself to anybody else", he said.

Berger matched that putt with a 7-footer for birdie on the 17th.

"I couldn't have done any worse than what I've done in the first three days, so I just wanted to mix it up and go back to something that looked a little more familiar", said McIlroy, who will now enjoy a week off before heading to Portstewart to host the Irish Open.

'I don't know if I'll ever have a moment equivalent to that again - something like that to win a tournament - but we certainly soaked it in.

They embarked on a playoff after finishing regulation tied at 12-under-par 268, two strokes clear of compatriot Charley Hoffman and New Zealander Danny Lee.

However, Spieth had other ideas and chipped his bunker shot in to leave Berger needing to sink his putt to keep the play-off alive. Spieth's shot at the Classic forced a playoff, which Spieth won at age 19 to become the youngest golfer to win a Tour event in 82 years, according to CBS Sports. He's been trying to find his short game this week and made a decision to switch Saturday from the putter he began using while at the U.S. Open. So we definitely got the right breaks today, even though I was already in the lead, I also got the breaks.

Both youngsters, however, continue to gain valuable experience at the top levels of the game and with time on their side, both seem destined for impressive careers.
