CNN Resignations A Sign Of The High Stakes In Covering Trump's Administration

The three journalists responsible for CNN's retracted story smearing a presidential adviser were asked to resign as the network feared a major lawsuit.

Tuesday morning was no different, as Trump criticized the network for its "phony Russian stories" and said that its ratings were down. CNN made a note that the story did not correspond to their editorial standards, that's why it had been removed.

While promoting their new video release, Project Veritas labeled CNN "American Pravda", quoting CNN producer John Bonifield, who was caught on tape admitting how Trump has been "good for business" as the there is "no real proof" on the Russian Federation scandal, but it's a business.

"On June 22, 2017, CNN.com published a story connecting Anthony Scaramucci with investigations into the Russian Direct Investment Fund", the retraction read.

Those who resigned were past Pulitzer Prize finalist, Thomas Frank; Lex Haris, veteran editor at the network, and Eric Lichtblau, who was also a Pulitzer nominee.

But several network officials were caught off-guard when the story appeared online, the people said, signaling that it had not received the proper approvals. "Ratings way down!" he tweeted Tuesday morning.

Scaramucci, who describes himself on Twitter as an "American entrepreneur", graciously accepted CNN's apology on Saturday.

CNN's Jim Acosta gets into nearly daily skirmishes with White House press secretary Sean Spicer over questions about the administration's transparency. "It's Donald Trump." The Washington Post reported a fake Time magazine issue with Trump on the cover is hanging on the walls of his golf clubs.

CNN has not commented on the video.

While the video is indeed embarrassing to CNN, there have been no reports of management changes in the works, and it is too early to say whether or not CNN's ratings will decline as a result of the videos. It was retracted the next night, and CNN apologized to Anthony Scaramucci, the Trump transition team member named in the story. "They are all Fake News!" the president declared. Creamer's firm recently sued Project Veritas alleging the sting violated federal wiretap law. "And I think if that is that place that certain outlets are going - particularly for the goal of spiking ratings, and if that's coming directly from the top, I think that's even more scary".

One social media exchange about the CNN story indicated how feelings about the network were running strong among Trump supporters.
