Sega Forever Let's You Take the Classics On the Go

Random: Ease The Pain Of Sega Forever's Botched Launch With This Official Cereal

It has been cunningly teasing the retro gaming service via its social media channels for the past few weeks, and even went as far as to mail out cassette tapes full of classic Sega tunes to journalists. Sega Forever is available now for both iOS and Android for free, with players having the option to turn off advertising forever with a $1.99 in-app purchase. It's certainly a better solution than selling every game for a couple of dollars, and there are many ways to pay for and play these games anyway. However, users will be able to pay $1.99 Dollars to block ads, check online leaderboards, and have access to the cloud to save their game progress.

At this moment, SEGA released five games, including hits of our childhood. Your Android TV box can become a decent retro gaming cons0le with a handful of classic hits. The Japanese video game developer had made the announcement of releasing the classic games on June 21 morning.

While Sega clearly has some work to do in order to bring the Sega Forever service up to speed, you can't fault the company's approach to PR.

You can find the Forever series on its official websites. Leaderboards and the ability to save your game are two other additional features to round-off this extremely generous and frankly unexpected package.

The release of the "Sonic the Hedgehog" app also comes as the classic blue character celebrates its 26th anniversary on Friday and allows you to play as the hedgehog himself or as his counterpart characters Tails and Knuckles while you collect coins on your way to take down the Eggman villain.
