Minnesota Releases Video of Philando Castile Shooting

After five days of deliberation, a jury found Yanez not guilty of second degree murder as well as two counts of intentional discharge of a firearm.

Authorities have released a new dash cam footage of moments that transpired before Philando Castile's shooting took place in 2016. During the incident, Castile informed Yanez that he was legally carrying a gun after being pulled over for a broken tail light. Yanez continues, saying "I don't know where the gun was". Yanez claimed Castile reached for his gun during the stop and did not listen to officer commands.

"Sir, I have to tell you, I do have a firearm on me", Castile says, while sitting inside his Oldsmobile. But the polite conversation turns deadly in a matter of seconds, as Castile informs Yanez he has a gun in the auto.

The scene escalates very quickly from here.

She started live-streaming on Facebook after the shots were fired, capturing Yanez yelling, "I told him not to reach for it!" and a bleeding Castile saying, "I wasn't reaching for it".

The dashboard camera video from the officer's patrol auto has been described by many but viewed by only by a few people - investigators, the jury and courtroom spectators. Please visit the original post to view it. However, the newly released video shows the interaction between officer Jeronimo Yanez and Castile as well as the fatal shots. However, Kauser said in court that he believed Yanez "followed protocol", Pioneer Press reported.

The aftermath of the shooting was broadcast on social media by Castile's girlfriend, who was in the auto with a young child. Reynolds live-streamed the aftermath on Facebook Live.

The officer repeats, "Don't pull it out" as both Castile and his girlfriend insist he is not reaching for his gun.

In the radio clip also released today, Yanez is heard saying he's going to stop a vehicle because two people inside looked like suspects in a robbery. Later during the trial, he mentioned that he also suspected Philando to be one of the suspects in an armed robbery that happened few days earlier.

Reynolds maintained that her boyfriend was trying to unbuckle his seat belt so he could get his wallet and hand over the driver's license the officer asked for seconds before the shooting.

Steven Belton, the black president and chief executive of the Minneapolis Urban League, said the footage was "powerfully painful" and that Mr Castile was "gunned down like a rabid animal". Yanez felt that his life was in danger.
