Donald Trump loses it on Twitter, smears Hillary Clinton over Russian scandal

Violent protests by mob led U.C. Berkeley to cancel speech by Milo Yiannopoulos in February

President Donald Trump has mounted another Twitter attack on former election opponent Hillary Clinton, condemning her for previously destroying her phones and "bleaching" her emails.

With the Russian Federation probe moving closer to Donald Trump himself, the president appears to long for the simpler times of last year's presidential campaign, when he didn't have to shoulder the nation's scrutiny on his own.

Borrowing some presidential campaign rhetoric, Trump called Hillary Clinton crooked and said she "destroyed phones" with a hammer and "bleached emails".

The Washington Post reported Wednesday evening that special counsel Robert Mueller, who is leading the investigation into the role Russian Federation played in the 2016 election, is also investigating Trump for attempted obstruction of justice.

"Nice", he wrote in reaction to a Washington Post report alleging he is under investigation for potential obstruction of justice.

Mueller, also a former Federal Bureau of Investigation director, was named special counsel shortly after Comey's dismissal.

Several top intelligence officials have agreed to be interviewed by Mueller's team, according to reports in both The Washington Post and New York Times.

Obstruction of justice is a serious charge, and one which led to impeachment proceedings against Richard Nixon after Watergate.

Accusations of obstruction arose last month when Trump fired FBI Director James Comey.

Once Comey was sacked, the Department of Justice appointed Mueller as special counsel to act as an independent investigator.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and campaign advisor Paul Manafort have also been implicated.

Clinton and her associates were never charged in the investigation into her use of a private email server and handling of classified information at the State Department. Nor did he deny he has entered the miniscule ranks of sitting presidents who have become the subject of a criminal investigation.
