Trump renews Twitter attack on London's mayor

Top Senate intelligence Dem: 'No specific' threat against US

London Mayor Sadiq Khan described the terror attack as "cowardly and evil" after visiting the scene with Met Police Commissioner Cressida Dick.

In an appearance on NBC's "Today Show", Conway said people in England had tried to inform authorities about the suspects before the attacks happened.

Still, his response to the London attacks was a jarring reminder of how his whiplash instincts shatter the mold of conventional presidential behavior. Maybe someone from the State Department should also be involved. His brash attitude had already set European teeth on edge after his foreign trip last month. The Islamic State claimed responsibility. "We will release facts when we can - our info must be accurate #LondonBridge".

Khan was asked if he thought Trump's state visit to the United Kingdom should be called off.

"We need to be smart, vigilant and tough".

"We need to go on doing that in the future".

"There are plans to change the police funding formula which could mean we lose up to £700 million on top of that, which leads to a total loss of our policing budget of £1.7 billion and we don't receive the right level of funding as a capital city we should receive".

In Congress, Trump's ambitions to pass a health-care overhaul and tax reform have been stymied by party infighting and growing nervousness about the potential political cost, especially in the more moderate Senate.

"There is no specific threat against the United States", Warner added. Join us in a conversation about world events, the newsgathering process or whatever aspect of the news universe you find interesting or important.

In March, after an attack by an Islamic militant that left five people dead in Westminster, central London, Trump's son Donald Trump Jr. issued a tweet that criticized Khan.

Trump has never been big on diplomacy with Europe.

"Your perverse ideology has nothing to do with the true values of Islam".

Then came the tweet expressing solidarity and condolences. And they certainly don't seem to be laying out a plausible anti-terrorism strategy.

"I don't think we should roll out the red carpet to the president of the United States of America in the circumstances where his policies go against everything we stand for", Khan said of Trump, with whom he has had a contentious relationship for months.

On Sunday morning he tweeted: "We must stop being politically correct and get down to the business of security for our people".

"He's been at the COBRAs and we've been working with him to ensure the response was right, and to get London moving again".

The BBC's Tara McKelvey reports that Trump's tweets attacking London Mayor Sadiq Khan have "enraged" government officials, "especially those who work in counterterrorism".

During an interview earlier on Sunday, Mr Khan had said: "Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days".

A spokesperson for Khan Sunday called Trump's remark "ill-informed" and said it took the mayor's words out of context.

Washington's acting ambassador to London meanwhile appeared to contradict his boss.

Police and the M15 domestic security agency also acknowledged Monday that they had been aware of one of the three alleged London Bridge attackers, Khuram Shazad Butt, 27, a British citizen born in Pakistan, but they had no specific intelligence to indicate he was plotting a terrorist assault.

British Police has arrested a dozen people in connection with the deadly attack on London Bridge in a widening probe after attackers used large knives and vans to kill seven people in the heart of London.

Trump's critics in the U.S. thought his tweets were off color.
