Trump sons' expansion of hotel chain 'has nothing to do with politics'

Trump International Hotel

The Trump Organization on Monday announced plans to launch a three-star, budget-friendly hotel chain under the name American Idea, a departure from the luxury properties the company is known for.

Led by seasoned hotel industry veteran Eric Danziger, Trump Hotels is part of The Trump Organization, helmed by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.

President Donald Trump's son says allegations that members of the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation is "the greatest hoax of all time".

The company revealed the location of its first upper-tier Scion hotel, which will be in Cleveland, Mississippi.

Critics have argued that President Trump's vast business empire presents a conflict of interest with his administration.

Trump Hotels, the luxury-lodging company started by the United States president, is planning a line of lower-priced properties under the name American Idea, Chief Executive Officer Eric Danziger announced on Monday.

President Trump and his family have been accused on various occasions of viewing their move into politics as a business and branding opportunity.

After the campaign, the younger Mr. Trump said he and others at Trump Hotels tracked down Mr. Chawla and his brother, Dinesh, and approached them about the new American Idea brand. "It is really about the competence of their business organisation, their marketing ability", Chawla said, adding the partnership with Trump hotels "gives us a platform internationally".

The four MS hotels for both chains will be owned by Chawla Hotels.

The first three American Idea hotels will be aimed at business travelers and blues-music tourists, Chawla said. He has said that any deals go through an "exhaustive, thorough" review.

Well, now the famous family is launching a new brand in the hospitality space, and it won't bear that recognizable name on the side of the building.

"It's about small town America", Danziger said.

Government ethics experts worry that developers seeking to curry favor with the president will be eager to help him in his new chains. The Scion hotel, expected to open by the end of the year, will be managed by Trump Hotels. The three properties, once given a new name and American decor, could be open within seven to eight months, said Dinesh Chawla, CEO of the Cleveland, Mississippi-based company. "We are honored, and we look forward to a very successful relationship".
