Apple launches Homepod, takes aim at Amazon's Echo

We tried. many times, but the software isn't enabled yet. For one thing, the audio to the Echo was playing over Bluetooth. The pricing of Apple's device was shared at the conference in comparison to both smart home speakers as well as premium audio speakers. That speaker has now been officially announced during WWDC, and it's called the HomePod. Apple said HomePod can pick up the commands from across the room with a 6-microphone array.

Among the new features of iOS 11 is the ability to make person-to-person payments through Apple's messaging app, thanks to new integration with the Apple Pay system. The speaker filters out any other commands other than "Hey Siri" pre-fixed ones making the results more accurate. In that way, it's like a very big AirPod. "With artificial intelligence and machine-learning capability as part of its architecture, the HomePod will only get smarter over time".

Apple has finally come up with a Google Home and Amazon Echo killer.

But how do they sound compared to one another?

Forrester Research analyst Julie Ask said the HomePod's advantage is that security and privacy is fundamental to the product's design. However, the bass was far too punchy, nearly pulsing, with this song, and while the Sonos was more muted vocally it offered a softer bass and an arguably more pleasant sound with this song. The HomePod may be more expensive and can't do as much as the Echo, but when it comes to sound quality, HomePod blows the Echo away. Inside is the same processor that powers the iPhone and an upward-facing 4-inch woofer. The Sonos Play3 wasn't far off, but the chorus sounded more boxed-in.

"It wasn't about not wanting to advise on something that we thought should be heard", he added.

It also boasts seven beam-forming tweeters, each with its own amplifiers to provide a well-balanced smooth tone.

The seven-inch speaker will cost $349, but won't be available until December.

Amazon had introduced its Echo in 2014, and Google started shipping its competitor, Google Home, last year.

But it's more than just a loud wireless speaker.

Several Apple HomeKit accessories work with Siri.

"We want to combine this all", he said. That's a bold claim given that this is Apple's first major foray into the speaker market.

Apple vice president Phil Schiller said the Siri team at Apple had tuned the assistant into a "musicologist" that learns the tastes of listeners and gets songs from the internet cloud.

If you place a second HomePod in the same room, the two automatically balances each other for the best sound experience.

Also, the speaker comes with automatic room sensing technology so even if it's position in the room changes, it can quickly adapt and change performance accordingly.

Siri now also has a male American voice, and is said to be more expressive due to a new visual interface. The device will be available in white and space grey colors.

Apple new product that is much expected by its followers is the HomePod.

"Out of close to half a billion households in China, at least 150 million households - based on affluence and high annual income - could potentially make up the total addressable market for smart speakers in the country". Let us take a look at some of the features of the HomePod.

There's still a lot left to explore about the Apple HomePod smart speaker.

Apple on Monday unveiled its "HomePod" speaker as it moved to challenge Amazon Alexa and Google Home as a smart home and music hub.

"We have been cooperating with the United Kingdom government not only in law enforcement kind of matters but on some of the attacks", Cook said during a Bloomberg Television interview on Monday. Along with its new line of computer and laptops, the tech giant has also launched a screen-free computer, powered by Siri, which doubles down as a top-notch home audio device.

And you can control it through the company's integrated voice assistant Siri.
