Bihar Scam yet again? Topper goes missing

Bihar Board Class 12 topper goes missing sparks rumours of India Tv

Controversies surrounding the low pass percentage of 35 in this year's Class XII examinations in Bihar turned the focus on the arts stream topper on Thursday, pointing at a likelihood of a scam like last year.

A year after Ruby Rai made the headlines for all the wrong reasons, this year too, Bihar Class XII topper in Arts stream Ganesh Kumar, is in the news for failing to answer some basic questions on the subject which he topped. Notably, this year's BSEB board exam results are "worst" of the last two decades. This time, Mr Kumar, the topper in humanities, stumbled over queries posed by the media on music, in which he scored 65 out of 70 in practicals. He has secured 92 marks out of 100 in Hindi.

As per reports, he even struggled to explain what are "sur", "taal" and "matra"- the basics of music. "He had done his matriculation from CRSR High School, Suriya in Giridih district of Jharkhand in 1990 with his real name Ganesh Ram (date of birth November 7, 1975)", said Kishor.

After the probe came to light, the state government ordered a high-level probe which revealed that top officials of the Bihar School Examination Board tampered with answer sheets of students by giving them marks without checking the papers at all.

Branding the Bihar topper scam news as utter rubbish, the Janata Dal (United) on Friday said the news is being used by certain outlets in the media for the sheer objective of sensationalism. The result has also surprised his school teachers who said, "Even we had not expected such kind of result from a student of this institution". "The answer sheets of toppers of all the three streams were re-checked by the experts and all the students had acquired marks due to their hard work and talent".

Vishun Roy College principal Bachha Rai was arrested on 11 June past year, who was involved in the exam racket, and it was later reported that Ruby Rai's father had promised six acres of land to Bachcha Rai if he helps his daughter in clearing the exams.
