Climate expert, religious community concerned about potential United States withdrawal from Paris Agreement

Amid reports of Donald Trump poised to withdraw from the Paris climate accord, the US President today said that he will announce his decision on this accord tomorrow.

Recently, there has been discussion covering Donald Trump's plans to withdraw from the Paris climate deal.

A White House official told the Associated Press there might be "caveats in the language" regarding the withdrawal from the accord, leaving open the possibility that the withdrawal may not be final and permanent.

In 2012, Trump famously called climate change a "hoax" that was invented by China to make USA manufacturing non-competitive.

Quitting the Paris accord may not resonate with members of Trump's Republican Party as much as his administration expects.

The 2015 deal was signed by 195 countries and was the first time most countries united to tackle climate change.

More recently, Trump has said that he does think there is some connectivity between human activity and climate change, but "it depends on how much".

Mr Trump, In a tweet on Wednesday, said only he would announce his decision within the "next few days". This is why Trump can now leave the Paris Agreement without consulting the Senate.

If we didn't know before, we now definitely know where President Trump stands when it comes to global warming and climate change.

Even so, given Trump's stated interest in promoting the development of domestic oil, gas, and coal, it is worth considering whether it would be better to have the world's second-biggest emitter of greenhouse gases leave the Paris accords.

American allies around the world have sounded public warnings over the consequences of withdrawing from the agreement, seeing nations including China and Russian Federation restate their commitments.

The Paris Agreement was in part brokered by Obama and was seen as a major breakthrough after the previous accord, the Kyoto protocol, failed to include the U.S. and China, the world's two biggest polluters. However, under the terms of the Paris deal, withdrawal can't begin until November 2019, three years after the agreement took effect.

Withdrawing would leave the United States as one of just three countries outside the agreement, with the other two being Syria and Nicaragua.

"We wish to work with the European Union to strengthen our communication and practical cooperation in climate change", Hua said.

But Trump's chief White House economic adviser, Gary Cohn, told reporters during the trip overseas that Trump's views on climate change were "evolving" following the president's discussions with European leaders. The agreement aims to net zero emissions sometime between 2050 and 2100, keep temperatures below 1.5 degrees Celsius and provide funds to developing nations to help them transition to more sustainable operations.
