Father and brother of alleged bomber detained in Libya

An unnamed Muslim community worker told the BBC two people who knew the attacker at college tipped off officers after he made statements "supporting terrorism" and expressing the view that "being a suicide bomber was okay".

Ramadan Abedi said the last time he spoke to Salman was five days ago as he was getting ready for a trip to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, a smaller pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca.

"I think it's very clear that this is a network that we are investigating", Manchester police chief Ian Hopkins told reporters Wednesday.

Abedi was in Libya for three weeks and returned just days before his attack, U.S. military officials assigned to the Africa Command told CNN.

Twenty-two people were killed and dozens more seriously injured when Abedi, 22, detonated a device as fans left Manchester Arena on Monday night.

On Wednesday, Israel said it had altered information-sharing protocols with the U.S. after Trump passed on information from its informant, embedded in the Islamic State, to Russians, probably endangering the source's life.

After arresting a 23-year-old man on Tuesday, British police said they had taken three more men into custody on Wednesday in south Manchester, where Abedi lived. Asked about intelligence-sharing between the United States and Israel earlier this week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who had Trump by his side then, said it's never been better.

Alan Kinsey, 52, who lived in the house opposite Abedi, said he thought there had been just one man for the last seven to eight months and a couple had been living there as well before that.

Abedi Sr said: 'We don't believe in killing innocents.

London's Metropolitan Police service announced that military personnel would guard "key locations" as part of what's been called "Operation Temperer", and soldiers were seen at Buckingham Palace and extra police at train stations on Wednesday morning.

Abedi fled Tripoli in 1993 after Moammar Gadhafi's security authorities issued an arrest warrant and eventually sought political asylum in Britain. The elder Abedi denied that his son had links to radical Islamist militants.

Now, he is the administrative manager of the Central Security force in Tripoli.

Although the LIFG disbanded, Haroun said the father belongs to the Salafi Jihadi movement, the most extreme sect of Salafism from which al-Qaida and ISIL hail. He did not give any details on the reasons why the father was arrested.

Omar Alfa Khuri, who lives across the street, said he was awakened at 2:30 am by a loud noise and saw police take away the father of the family that lives there in handcuffs. I was very annoyed with him.

Still, the escalating dispute over the release of information has soured relations between the countries ahead of Ms May's meeting with Mr Trump at the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels.

Britain's official terror threat level was raised to "critical", the highest level, late on Tuesday, meaning an attack could be imminent.

The name of the alleged bomber, Salman Abedi, was also published in USA news outlets before it was officially announced by United Kingdom authorities. The official also said that Abedi had ties to the al-Qaida network and had received terrorist training overseas.

British Home Secretary Amber Rudd said she was "irritated" about the leak.

Officials said all the dead and wounded had been identified. "There's extensive investigations going on and activity taking place across Greater Manchester as we speak". It said all the affected families have been contacted and are receiving support.
