Trump urges Israelis and Palestinians: Make peace

"The only cautionary note is, don't raise expectations about Middle East peace because whenever it gets to be more important to the American President that we have a peace agreement in the Middle East than it is to the Israelis or more importantly the Palestinians, nothing happens". I will call them, from now on, losers.

Trump on Tuesday wrapped up the Middle East leg of his first foreign trip as president. Trump's reaction to his wife's apparent frostiness: a quick pat on her buttocks.

The proposed weapons supply is truly staggering, not least due to their destination to a regime up to its eyes in terror sponsorship.

And instead of headlines describing the latest twist in the Russian elections probe or his firing of FBI Director James Comey, he woke up to the front pages of Israel newspapers celebrating his visit to the Western Wall.

Moving the United States embassy to Jerusalem will not harm the peace process.

That would also signal the abandonment of long-standing USA policy avowedly advocating a two-state solution.

On Monday he stated, "t$3 here are many things that can happen now that could never have happened before" as he delivered a public statement alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that followed a face-to-face meeting.

"President Trump's message was heard from the outset".

He personally addressed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and said that after meeting with "my very good friend, Benjamin", he can say that Netanyahu "is reaching for peace" too. "But with determination, compromise and the belief that peace is possible, Israelis and Palestinians can make a deal".

Back in Jerusalem, Trump gave a speech at the Israel Museum, where he said "my administration will always stand with Israel". Even though the admonishment of "not tolerating violence" there is manifold more pertinent and meaningful. The Israeli intelligence community was less tactful, using words like "horrifying" to describe an American president who shared Israel's most sensitive intelligence findings with Russian Federation.

"We are ready to open dialogue with our Israeli neighbours to build confidence and create a real opportunity for peace", he said after talks with Trump. "So far there is no reason to be optimistic that this administration is capable of doing that".

The status of Jerusalem is ultra-sensitive and has been among the most hard issues in Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, stalled since April 2014.

The warming ties between Israel and US-aligned Arab regimes has come at the expense of solidarity with Palestinians. But there are reasons to worry that the foundation of the U.S. -Israel alliance is getting shakier, and this visit did nothing to change that. As if the former are defenders of Arab and Muslim rights. It is the regime that is responsible for so much instability in the region. That hegemony is primarily underpinned by Washington's militarization and saturated selling of weaponry.

President Trump's agreement with King Salman comes in the wake of 18 high-level US-Saudi trade agreement deals that have been signed since January.

"How can it hurt?". Only time will tell.

He said: "Israel has always expressed its position to the USA government and the world".

"I like you too", Trump said when the audience quietened. They say that we must choose between supporting Israel and supporting Arab and Muslim nations in the region.

It is a trip that has not passed without incident - many of them freakish, and plenty of them worthy of further analysis. Trump and his hosts will reasonably claim it as a big win.

Trump warned of Iran's escalating presence in the region. This is a breath-taking inversion of reality, given the nefarious role of Saudi Arabia in those same countries. Trump was equally aghast when Obama bowed to a Saudi.

Israel premier Netanyahu also remarked that "old enemies [sic] have become allies against a common enemy".
