Hernandez family planning private funeral in Connecticut

Ursula Ward the mother of semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd speaks about her son during a media availability at her attorney's office Friday in Boston. Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was convicted of Lloyd's 2013 murder

George Leontire, an attorney representing Hernandez's family, filed a bill of discovery in Bristol County Superior Court, calling on MA officials to preserve all evidence in the investigation into Hernandez's death.

Hernandez was found hanging in his jail cell early Wednesday morning.

The medical examiner ruled Hernandez's cause of death was asphyxia by hanging and investigators found three notes and a Bible in Hernandez's cell, the Worcester County District Attorney's office said.

Hernandez's appeal was still pending at the time of his death. They've enlisted the help of forensic pathologist Michael Baden, who performed a second autopsy.

Judge McGuire found both parties are interested in protecting the evidence in question, as Murray stated the investigation is ongoing and the state is also interesting in preserving the information. Attorney William Kennedy, who represented the families of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, the victims in the aforementioned double murder, told CBS Boston the Patriots might be obligated to pay Hernandez's estate the $3.5 million signing bonus they voided following his arrest in 2013.

Aaron Hernandez's fiancee has indicated in court papers that she may sue the state of MA over his prison suicide.

"But I just want you to know, if you f-- me over, I'll kill you, '" Rapoport said. In essence, the principle states that because Hernandez had not yet exhausted all of his legal challenges when he died, it's as if he never had been charged and the trial never happened.

Right before Hernandez's death, a jury cleared him of two counts of murder following the deaths of two men in a drive-by shooting in Boston in 2012, CNN reports.

Hernandez had been in a MA prison serving life without parole for the shooting murder of his friend, Odin Lloyd.

His lawyers are expected to ask a court to vacate his 2015 murder conviction.

Ward is pursuing a wrongful death case for her son against Hernandez's estate. "It's about families that lost their loved ones and we need justice", Ward explained. He was serving a life term for the killing of Lloyd, who was dating Jenkins Hernandez's sister.

Thompson didnt say when hell file the request.

Shayanna Jenkins, the fiancee of Aaron Hernandez, was pictured with their daughter, Avielle, the day after his suicide.

All first-degree murder convictions in MA trigger an automatic appeal. Hernandez's appeal was still in its early stages and hadn't yet been heard when he hanged himself early Wednesday.
