Easy choice: Browns CB Haden wants Garrett with No. 1 pick

But the likeliest scenario is that the Browns stick with Garrett, leaving the next 31 picks in the draft open for business. Nothing that was said on Wednesday leads anyone to believe otherwise. As of right now, Cleveland has Brock Osweiler, Kevin Hogan and Cody Kessler under contract at quarterback. Brown's phone is ringing with offers for the No. 1 pick but he seems content to keep it and take the player they want rather than dancing down the board and out of the top 10 for a second straight year. Brown left the door slightly ajar by saying the team could theoretically acquire a veteran quarterback, but that the team is not planning on adding a veteran.

The last time three defensive players went in the top five of the draft was 2011.

Corey Coleman (Baylor) with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell after being selected by the Cleveland Browns as the number fifteen overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft at Auditorium Theatre. Though it still stands, the Cleveland Browns are on the clock, and time is going by a lot faster than they think.

But if they take Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett with the No. 1 pick as expected, Trubisky could be gone before they pick again at No. 12.

In a report by NFL.com, Browns executive VP of football operations Sashi Brown quashed rumors that the team plans to trade the No. 1 overall pick. He and Browns coach Hue Jackson have shared a private dinner, and Garrett told ESPN The Magazine that Jackson said he'd be happy to draft him.

"We don't want to make a habit of turning two picks into one, but we're positioned to do it, " Brown said.

Will it be former University of North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky, who passed for 3,748 yards and 30 touchdowns en route to the Tar Heels' appearance versus Stanford University in last year's Sun Bowl?

While we are dead center in the cough-inducing, eye-burning thickness of pre-draft smokescreen season, this is a possibility that makes too much sense. NY general manager Mike Maccagnan has said he would like to move out of the No. 6 slot, so if there is a player available that the Browns want when the Jets are on the clock, there could be a trade match available.

"Positive young man, bright, very competitive, brings a lunchbox, blue-collar mentality to the position", Brown said.

The Browns worked out Trubisky and have spent a lot of time with him. "I don't care what the draft experts - and things like that - what they have to say".

If Cleveland can come away with the top player and the top quarterback, there's going to be praises galore for the front office. "We were impressed by him".
