NFL Owners Contributed 6.7 Percent Of Money For Trump's Inauguration

US President Donald Trump raised twice as much money for his inauguration festivities as any previous president-elect in history, pulling in tens of millions of dollars from wealthy donors and large corporations eager to woo the nation's new chief executive in the days after his unexpected victory.

Kraft's donation was paid through Kraft Group LLC, a holding company.

Billionaire hedge fund manager Steven Cohen, who owns a 4% stake in the Mets, donated $1 million.

Trump's inaugural committee hand-delivered a paper version of its report Tuesday to the Federal Election Commission, and it was not available for public review until Wednesday.

The total is almost double the record set by President Barack Obama eight years ago.

President Donald Trump delivers his inaugural address after being sworn in as the 45th president of the United States during the 58th Presidential Inauguration at the U.S. Capitol in Washington on January 20, 2017. Trump has vowed to bring back coal jobs, and his administration quickly approved the Dakota pipeline.

Businesses that donated at the $1 million level included Bank of America, Boeing, Dow Chemical, Pfizer, Allied Wallet, Access Industries, Qualcomm. AT&T gave $2 million, plus $82,483 in mobile equipment and software.

The inaugural committee said it would start winding down the organization once it submits paperwork to the Federal Election Commission. The Republican National Committee refused a contribution from the US citizen in 2000, citing news reports at the time that cautioned about his ties to Russian business. Kerrigan said the inaugural events may have served as an opportunity for donors to try to curry favor with the incoming president.

Billionaire investor Paul Singer, for example, gave $1 million after long expressing skepticism about Trump.

While the government sets strict contribution limits on political campaigns, the only federal restrictions on donations to inaugural committees are a ban on foreign nationals, according to Fischer, of the Campaign Legal Center.

Massachusetts' second-highest inaugural donor was former MassGOP chairman Robert Maginn, who gave $50,000.

For Trump, the fast pace of fundraising appears to have continued past Inauguration Day.

$106.7 million was contributed by individuals and corporations for the inauguration festivities, but it's of note that they were on the list and among the top donors.

Trump's committee raised a record $106.7 million from private sources to fund six days of events surrounding his January 20 swearing-in.

The gift was the largest single contribution ever given to an inauguration, The New York Times reported Wednesday, adding that Adelson's donation was "far from the only seven-figure check deposited by the committee responsible for carrying out much of the pomp leading up to Mr. Trump's swearing in".
