Fly the funnier skies: Mideast airlines troll United

To say United Airlines is having a week from hell would be an understatement.

That eventually led to the video everybody has seen - a 69-year-old man being dragged off the plane by security officers after refusing to give up his seat.

The backlash from the incident resonated around the world, with social media users in the United States, China and Vietnam calling for boycotts of the No. 3 US carrier by passenger traffic and an end to the practice of overbooking flights. One clip showed the man being removed from the aircraft, his face bloodied from the episode as others could be heard expressing dismay about the scene unfolding before them.

Munoz was asked about calls for his resignation as leader of the embattled airline on the ABC show "Good Morning America" following widespread outrage at the company's actions in the incident Sunday. "And you saw us at a bad moment and this could never - will never happen again on a United Airlines flight".

"I want you to know that we take full responsibility and we will work to make it right", he said.

The flight was loaded and preparing to leave Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on Sunday when the man was dragged off.

Munoz - who last month was named "US Communicator of the Year" by PR Week - pledged a "thorough review" of the airline's procedures and said the carrier would not send law enforcement officials onto planes remove passengers. Munoz said he felt "ashamed" as he watched video of the man being forced off the jet.

Munoz said he has not considered resigning.

"That is not who are family at United is".

Attorneys for Dao filed court papers Wednesday asking the airline and the city of Chicago to preserve evidence in the case. Those documents are often the first steps toward a lawsuit. His legal team planned to hold a news conference Thursday to discuss the matter with reporters.

Earlier footage of Dr Dao being dragged bloodied and screaming from the plane - scheduled to travel from Chicago to Kentucky - has made global headlines, earned the United States carrier worldwide condemnation and wiped a reported $1.3 billion from the company's value. The department announced Wednesday that two more officers have been placed on leave.

The airline then sought four passengers to voluntarily give up their seats for up to $1,000, which the ejected passenger refused before being told he'd have to leave the plane anyway.

It's also worth noting this third apology came after the United Airlines stock lost $250 million in market value.

The Transportation Department affirmed on Tuesday that it was reviewing the "involuntary denied boarding" of the United passenger.
