Gwinnett County Police Officer Fired After Kicking Handcuffed Man In Head

Two Gwinnett officers Michael Bongiovanni Robert Mc Donald, are fired after new traffic stop video surfaces showing them punching and kicking motorist

A Gwinnett County police officer has been terminated after video of a traffic stop shows him stomp a handcuffed man on the head.

An officer, identified as Robert Mcdonald, walked up and kicked a 21-year-old man, who was handcuffed on the ground. The video was captured on a cell phone by a witness in traffic. "As he stands with his hands up, [Sergeant] Michael Bongiovanni strikes the man in the face", the police said in a statement.

A prosecutor in Georgia has dismissed dozens of cases involving two former officers fired in a police brutality case.

A Georgia police officer is under investigation after authorities say he kicked Hollins in the head during a traffic stop in Lawrenceville, Ga., just outside Atlanta.

'It was so surreal, ' Hollins said. "No one would have believed that I did nothing to provoke an assault I suffered at the hands of these two Gwinnett County police officers".

"This is why we take to the streets and scream #BlackLivesMatter, it's because American police officers have zero regards for black lives, they beat us, shoot and kill us without a blink of an eye and the biggest problem is, it all goes unchallenged", Page wrote.

According to Bongiovanni's report, the auto smelled of marijuana and Hollins "began to act unusual", saying he wanted to call his mother. That officer immediately stomps on the man's face.

Bongiovanni's attorney, Mike Pugliese, told WSB-TV Friday what his client did not use not excessive force: "It was an elbow strike, an FBI-taught defensive tactic". Video of his release shows him appearing to have injuries to his lip and nose that match a police mugshot showing his face bloodied.

Chief Ayers is giving a press conference now in reference to Ofc.

"With the particular police officer before and he charged me with the same charges as he charged me with yesterday".

In the footage, Officer Robert McDonald emergef from off the screen then kicked Hollins as he lay on the floor. In this video, Bongiovanni can be seen approaching Hollins, who is still inside the auto.

Gwinnett County police fired the officer the next day.

"We do not tolerate actions that are not consistent with our core values or state law", the department's statement read.

Bongiovanni's report said Hollins' vehicle lacked a license plate and changed lanes several times without signaling.

Hollins was approached by reporters outside the county jail, where he was released on $7,500 bail.

"The fact of the matter is, the suspect was in handcuffs, the suspect was on the ground, the suspect was not resisting", he said.

The evaluation said McDonald "always deals with members of the community in a courteous, professional, calm and controlled manner".
